Engineering specifications for the construction of the third train of existing LNG plant in Sakhalin were presented to the state expert review panel. The information was delivered by the governor’s media service.
“Cederic Kremers, Shell Chairman in Russia, stated that the engineering specifications for the construction of the third train of LNG plant were prepared and ready to be transmitted to the state expert review panel.
According to the head, the third train of LNG plant in Prigorodny can become one of the most economically viable LNG units in the world, performing lower risks.
“We expect that the final investment decision will be adopted next year. The train will be capable to produce 5.4m tonnes of LNG”, informs the media-service.
“Yesterday I had an opportunity to visit the plant and examine the operation. I have the best impressions – the plant is managed professionally and effectively, in compliance with all safety standards”, says Mr. Kremers.
“Sakhalin-2 is the one and only LNG plant in Russia. Project operator is Sakhalin Energy. The share of Gazprom is 51%, Shell – 26.5%, Mitsui & Co. Ltd. – 12.5%, Mitsubishi Corporation – 10%.
In June 2015, Gazprom and Shell signed a memorandum for the construction of the 3rd train of Sakhalin-2 LNG-project. The third train construction will enable the increase of plant capacity one and a half times – up to 15m tonnes.
