The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan came out for strengthening the partnership with Russia on the energy project Arctic LNG-2.

He declared it at the meeting of Russian-Japanese inter-governmental committee.

“As for energy. For example, Arctic LNG-2 project, which involved Japanese companies is the field where the Japan’s demand and technology and Russian potential compliments each other. I personally would like to strengthen this cooperation”, says the Minister.

He also highlighted the potential for cooperation of governments in the field of medicine, science, smart cities, agriculture in the Far East, and construction of an LNG transhipment complex in Kamchatka, the use of Trans-Siberian railway.

In June, NOVATEK concluded an agreement with Mitsui/Jogmec on selling the share in Arctic LNG-2.
